Highlights of the Burn Ordinance

1. Anything that makes white smoke (wood, paper, and plant materials) can be burned. No material may be brought onto a site for the express purpose of burning it. Leaf burning is discouraged. No treated lumber.

2. A valid burn permit must be obtained on the day of the intended burning. Permits can be obtained verbally by calling the Superior Twp. Fire Department at 734-484-1996.

3. Fire must be at least twenty feet from any building, and twenty feet or more from the property line.

4. Open burning is discouraged on Sundays, and or Holidays, in areas where neighbors will be affected from the by products of combustion.

5. Fire must be during daylight hours, except when a special permit has been issued.
